Travel Series- Comfort Items

Good day, all.  To continue this award winning (ha) travel series, I want to share some of the things that make me 'comfortable' while traveling.

First off, my bag-o-liquids for the carry-on:

Lavender Oil- induces relaxation
Peppermint Oil- helps with headaches, sore muscles
Rescue Remedy- to help ease panic attacks (yes, I get them)
Hand Sanitizer
Nasal Spray- to help keep my nasal passages moist and help trap airborne germs
Eye Drops- to help keep my eyes moist
Motion Eaze- to help prevent/ease motion sickness

If I check a bag, the regular toiletries are packed away.  If not, I add the normal toiletries like toothpaste, deodorant, etc.  And between Brenton and me, we can pack enough for us to be away for a week to 10 days.

Other comfort items I like to pack:

Eye Mask
Ear Plugs
Ipod, with podcasts, guided meditation, Dave Matthews (lol), and apps, with earbuds
Magazine, or two....or three
Ginger Pills, Sea Bands (more assistance with motion sickness)
Pill Bag- Chlorella tablets, Vitamin D, Oregano Oil, Zinc, Bioplasma, Multi-Vitamin, Advil (ugh.), Bonine (just for motion sickness emergencies - haven't needed it since my Motion Eaze, Ginger Pills and Sea Bands! WHOO!)
Snacks- fruit, granola bars, nuts, crackers

There you have it, my travel comfort items.  For long flights I like to wear long knee socks to help with circulation and a neck pillow so I can sleep.

It's important for me to get up and move around when I fly, especially because I have a problem with my ankles swelling.  Take a look at these two youtube videos that have exercises and information about moving around while flying. Enjoy! xoxo

Next up- staying HEALTHY while you travel!

Phobias.

Happy Friday to you all.  What a week!!!  It was a very difficult week for me, that really brought to the surface some underlying anxiety that had been swirling around.

Do any of you suffer from phobias?  I do, in a MAJOR way.  I am an emetophobe, aka I don't like ''throw up''. I have been this way since I can remember.  What I have recently found out is that this phobia affects more people on earth than any other phobia.  Isn't that weird?

My hubby was sick a few days ago, which caused me to go into a MAJOR panic.  I'm talking panic attacks like I haven't had in a LONG time.  My sister recommended that I try Rescue Remedy.  This is basically a vile with flower essences that are supposed to calm you down.  I've been using it off and on and I really DO feel a difference.  I can't exactly describe the feeling... kind of like a soothing of my energy fields.  Hippie, right!?

So, to help overcome this (or at least try to make it a little better) I'm going to start doing EFT again, using the Bach Flower Remedies, and talking about it with people that I trust.  All of the hesitations in my life (well, most of them anyway) have all originated here, with my emetophobia.  I don't know why I have this fear, nor do I know why it's so debilitating for me.  There have got to be others that are in the same camp that I am.  Right?  Anyone?  Anyone?

So, if you have a phobia, what are you fearful of?  Anyone in the same camp that I am?

When in doubt, grab a tea bag!!

Hello bloggies! Teenytiny post today- just have a tip!

Since it's summer time, bugs are beginning to fly! If you get bit by a bug, don't reach for the Cortizone 10! Instead, grab a TEA BAG!!! Let me tell you a story-

Three years ago, my husband and I were on our honeymoon in Sunny Isles Beach, FL. We were waiting for the valet to get the car for us so we could go to the mall, when all of a sudden, I get bit by what looked like a fat black mosquito. Twice. My arm swelled up so much because the venom from the two bites conjoined. We went to CVS to get every bug bite cream we could find... and NOTHING worked. My arm itched soooo bad! We called my husband's mom, who is a nurse, and she told me to lightly wet a black tea bag, and hold it on the bite for 20 min. AMAZING! It was the ONLY thing that worked! It drew the venom out, the swelling went down, the itching stopped... it was fantastic! Now, I always carry a black tea bag wherever I go, and so should you.

So, go buy some black tea bags for those annoying summer bug bites! Until next time, Namaste.
